The food: organic caterers (SF)

San Francisco:
Om Organics has compiled a list of local caterers that use organic ingredients.

On a national scale, the Local Harvest website is a great resource for finding food that is produced locally. There isn't a list of caterers but it might help you suggest resources for your caterer to find food that is locally grown and organic.

The dress: Vintage

The ring comes first (usually) but most would agree that the dress sets the tone for the entire wedding. There are more and more eco-friendly options out there for wedding dresses but nothing could be more green than vintage - it's the very definition of re-use! And vintage often means totally one-of-a-kind. A lot of local resources exist so check out your upscale consignment shops.

Online, there is of course ebay, and you can do a search for "vintage wedding dress" and you'll come up with quite a few results. A few we like are:
TheFrock.com
VintageGown.com
AntiqueDress.com
VintageWedding.com

We would be remiss to not include a few guidelines for finding that perfect vintage dress:
*Avoid dresses that have stains or need repairs - these could be impossible (or extremely costly) to fix.
*Be wary of the oldest dresses as old fabric could look good but be very weak. You certainly don't want a dress disaster on your wedding day!
*Remember that your modern sizes are very different from what they were a few decades ago! Make sure that you get exact measurements and check the return policy if you are buying online.

Last but not least, when you are done with your dress and you decide not to keep it or trash it then please consider donating it to one of the many charities that will put it good use.
Brides Against Breast Cancer "allows brides-to-be a chance to find the gown of their dreams at a remarkable price, while helping to make wishes and memory-making events come true."
What about the often mocked and never worn again bridesmaid's dress? Have your maids consider giving their dresses to The Princess Project,a 100% volunteer effort to provide free prom dresses and accessories to San Francisco Bay Area girls who could not otherwise afford them. Finally someone will be happy to wear that dress!
